FLUGT is dedicated to tell the refugee stories from the last hundred years and how the flow of refugees affected Denmark.
FLUGT is designed by the world-renowned BIG – Bjarke Ingels Group, the architecture of FLUGT is in a league of its own. Using as a basis the hospital of the refugee camp, which originally consisted of 40 small wards and operating rooms, the architects created a brand-new museum with eight large exhibition spaces. A large, beautiful, curved, 500-m2 new building unites the original wings. From the outside, the extension looks like a closed Corten steel wall. But, once you step inside, you find yourself in a bright, high-ceilinged space of wood and glass.
